Sarah Davis, Director of Center for Patients Partnership, received the Marygold Melli Award from the Legal Association for Women (LAW) on September 25. This annual award celebrates an outstanding professional who has also contributed to the interest of women in law.

LAW commended Davis’s commitment to health advocacy, demonstrated through her leadership with CPP. From her start in 2005, Davis “has ensured that advocacy provided by the Center’s Health Justice Clinic remains responsive to ever-changing barriers to healthcare,” LAW stated.

Thanks to her work as Associate Director and co-founder of LIFT Wisconsin, Davis was also recognized by LAW for championing solutions for civil justice. LIFT improves access to justice through their Legal Tune Up Tool (LegalTuneUp.org) – a free resource that helps Wisconsinites resolve common legal issues without a lawyer.

“Sarah’s visionary leadership turned LIFT Wisconsin from a dream into a functional tool providing necessary legal assistance to people who would otherwise be unrepresented,” Sarah’s colleagues wrote in her nomination.

In the spirit of the Marygold Melli Award, LAW also honored Davis for her unwavering support of women in the legal field. The Association noted her mentorship of hundreds of aspiring and current lawyers. Davis is known for always lending women colleagues a reminder of “their power and effectiveness in a world with extra hurdles for women,” LAW stated.

“We all appreciate Sarah’s deep commitment to the legal profession, and advancing women as attorneys and leaders within it and our broader society,” Sarah’s nominators wrote.
