On May 17, 2024, Urban Triage held their first annual Black Brilliance Gala: A Celebration of Unsung Heroes. Sheray was one of many deserving leaders receiving awards for their tireless commitment to our community. Sheray received the Community Driven Award for her exceptional work for the Meadowood community and beyond. We are honored to have Sheray as a community resource educator in our Resource Navigator Program. As a Community Health Worker, Sheray provides exceptional supervision of our undergraduate students helping people navigate barriers to health and wellness. Several of us attended the Gala to celebrate Sheray, including Lily, Chris, and Sarah.
We couldn’t be happier to have Sheray at CPP. Her teaching is invaluable and her commitment to our community is wavering. As shared by a recent Resource Navigator student: ” My experiences this past semester have been unlike anything I have been exposed to in a classroom setting…. no amount of policy briefs and op-ed articles compares to the hands-on
experience I got in LS 473…. One of the most significant examples was when I volunteered at the MEDiC
Free Clinic with Sheray. [It] demonstrated to me what the social determinants of health truly encompassed, while also
teaching me the power of teamwork in community work.”
